Last Saturday I took the 2 line to Ttukseom and met my friend Sumin at Center Coffee. She was already there, in a cardigan I'm pretty sure she's had since university, drinking iced americano even though it was 14 degrees out. That cardigan is sort of the whole thing about Seongsu. It looked expensive and wasn't. I keep meaning to write down what people actually wear here, because every time my friends visit Seoul they ask, and I keep sending screenshots of my own outfits over KakaoTalk, which is not a system. So. Six pieces, all from Amazon US, all things I either own or would buy. I was specifically trying to avoid anything that feels like a costume — no oversized blazer, no statement bag, no labubu (girls. please.). The Seongsu look is supposed to feel a little tired, like the people who actually live here. That's the whole point. One thing: this entire outfit comes out to about $270 if you buy everything in one go. You probably won't. Start with the jeans.
