Garosugil — the Sinsa-dong street with the gingko trees — is the closest Seoul has to a browsing-as-an-activity neighborhood. The boutiques here lean designer-adjacent: Acne, Lemaire, Toteme, COS, the local Seoul brands like Andersson Bell and Tibaeg. You go without an agenda. You leave with a coffee.
The outfit I always end up putting on for this is camel from top to bottom — trouser, knit, coat, bag. Black flat. Tortoise sunglasses pushed up on top of my head. It's a deeply uninteresting outfit on paper and looks great in person, which is the trick.
The reason camel works specifically in Sinsa is the lighting on Garosugil — afternoon sun through ginkgo leaves makes camel look richer than it does anywhere else. I have outfit photos from three different visits and they all look like they were taken at a magazine shoot, just because of where I was standing.
